Terms of service

These terms explain the rules for installing and using the TrueTrack browser extension and its supporting music-analysis services.

Last updated: August 5, 2026

1. Accepting these terms

By installing, accessing, or using the TrueTrack extension, website, or API-backed features, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The extension's purpose

TrueTrack has a single purpose: helping listeners identify potential AI-generated music while viewing individual Spotify track pages. The extension extracts the public Spotify track identifier, requests an automated analysis, and displays a ✨ beside the stream count when AI signals are detected. Hovering over the indicator shows available details such as confidence and likely AI type.

TrueTrack does not provide a Spotify account, alter playback, or act on your behalf.

3. Permissions and data handling

The extension uses narrowly scoped access to Spotify pages, local extension storage, and the TrueTrack API host to provide its stated feature. You agree that the extension may process the current Spotify track identifier, cache its result locally, and send that identifier to the TrueTrack API and detection provider as described in the Privacy Policy.

We will not use extension data for personalized advertising, sale to data brokers, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to the extension's disclosed functionality.

4. Results are informational

Detection results are automated signals, not proof. Processing, mastering, compression, model changes, and the length or quality of available audio can produce false positives or false negatives. A missing ✨ does not guarantee that a track is human-made.

You must not present a TrueTrack result as definitive evidence that a person or organization created, distributed, or misrepresented AI-generated music. Review relevant context and seek additional evidence before making accusations or decisions that could affect another person.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Interfere with, overload, scrape, or attempt to bypass limits on the service.
  • Reverse engineer protected parts of the service or attempt to obtain secret credentials.
  • Use TrueTrack to violate privacy, intellectual-property, or other applicable rights.
  • Use automated requests without our written permission.
  • Misrepresent results or TrueTrack's relationship with an artist, platform, or institution.
  • Repackage, impersonate, or redistribute the extension in a deceptive manner.

6. Extension updates and availability

TrueTrack is currently offered free of charge. Your browser or extension store may install updates automatically. We may update the extension to maintain compatibility, security, and detection quality, but will not add unrelated functionality or materially different data practices without the disclosures, permissions, and consent required by applicable Chrome Web Store policies.

Spotify page changes, unavailable preview audio, rate limits, network failures, or third-party outages may prevent a result. We may impose reasonable usage limits or suspend the service to protect its security and availability.

7. Third-party services

The extension works with Spotify pages and relies on TrueTrack's API, hosting and database providers, and SH Labs for audio detection. Their availability and terms may affect TrueTrack. Spotify, Google Chrome, Chrome Web Store, and Microsoft Edge are trademarks or services of their respective owners. TrueTrack is not sponsored, endorsed, or operated by those companies.

8. Optional website uploads

If you use the separate audio-upload checker on the TrueTrack website, you retain your rights in the submitted audio and give TrueTrack and its detection provider limited permission to receive, temporarily copy, transmit, and analyze it solely to provide the requested check, secure the service, and resolve technical issues. You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit the audio.

9. Open-source software and intellectual property

TrueTrack's open-source code may be used under the license included with the applicable source distribution. These terms do not grant rights to TrueTrack's name, logo, service credentials, or third-party content beyond what is necessary to use the extension normally.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The extension and related services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrueTrack and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or losses resulting from reliance on a detection result, inability to use the extension, or unauthorized submitted content.

11. Ending use, changes, and contact

You can stop extension processing at any time by disabling or uninstalling TrueTrack. We may restrict access when reasonably needed to protect the service, enforce these terms, comply with law, or prevent harm. We may update these terms as the extension evolves; the date above identifies the current version. Questions can be sent to hello@istruetrack.com.
